King Kong and Physics

KING KONG: What is the force of King Kong’s fall off the Empire State Building?
F=ma Force=mass x acceleration
F=3628.8*10 F=36288m/s

How long was the fall? How long did it take him to reach the ground?
The fall was 443.2 meters, which means that the Empire State Building is 443.2 meters tall. In the movie King Kong it took him 24.5 seconds to fall from the top of the building to the sidewalk below.

Is the information in the movie accurate?
No the information in the movie is not accurate because it would take approximately 9.4 seconds if a human fell off the Empire State Building. I know this because in the formula t= h/5 if you divide the height of the Empire State Building by 5 you would get 88.64, and if you look for the square root of 88.64 you would get the time which equals to 9.4s. But just because he is bigger it doesn’t mean that he would slow down when he fell, he would most likely stay at the same rate as a human because the force that gravity pulls you down by doesn’t change. In the film, by 10 seconds you can still see him in mid air, not even halfway down yet.

INFORMATION:
King Kong’s height= 18 meters
King Kong’s mass= 3628.8kg
Height of Empire State Building= 443.2 meters
Time it took him to fall= 24.5 seconds

FORMULAS:
F=ma a=f/m m=f/a
T= square root of h/5 h=5t to the 2nd power
